OBJECTIVE:

Practise switch pass, working on timing.

EQUIPMENT:

1-4 balls per group.

GROUP SIZE:

8+.

AREA:

10m x 10m.

DRILL EXPLANATION:

  1. Divide players up into four groups and position groups at the corners of a 10m x 10m grid.
  2. The first player from group A carries the ball and runs towards group C and, before reaching the centre of the grid, makes a switch pass to the first player from group  D running the diagonal.
  3. The new ball-carrier then passes to their right to the first player from group C etc.

COACHING POINTS:

• Pass from both directions.
• Pop pass to stay in the middle of the grid.
• Hands up to receive the ball.
• Communicate.
• Avoid collisions.
• Do this at pace.

VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:

  1. Increase number of balls.
  2. Count passes in a set time or no mistakes.
