OBJECTIVE:

To place players in contact situations to retain possession.

EQUIPMENT:

4 cones, hit shields and 3 balls between groups.

GROUP SIZE:

6-8 players.

AREA:

5 x 5 meter grid.

DRILL EXPLANATION:

  1. The first player runs out five metres and makes contact with the first hit shield and drives it back a couple of metres.
  2. The player then moves toward the next hit shield and repeats the contact.
  3. As soon as the first player moves to the second hit shield, the second player runs toward the first hit shield.
  4. The pattern continues for the length of the grid.

VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:

  1. Hit, go to ground and place.
  2. Hit and spin.
  3. Go in pairs with support player picking up the ball and moving to second contact zone. First player gets up and becomes support player.
