DRILL EXPLANATION:

  1. Attackers each have a shield and can work in any configuration they choose. e.g. Two or three can come from behind the maul and run in sequences they choose.
  2. All defenders are on the line and have to move forward in defence and pick off the runners.

COACHING POINTS:

  • Move forward.
  • Work in your zone.
  • Tackle the runner.
  • Communicate your target.
  • Use inside defender in all circumstances.

VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:

Keep going for four or five different phases.
