OBJECTIVE:

To select correct options in defensive situation.

EQUIPMENT:

DRILL EXPLANATION:

  1. All players leave together passing the ball along the line, as a player passes the ball they resume a defensive position inside the channel with one defender at the rear and two defenders to the front.
  2. Upon reaching the end of the channel the three remaining players (ABC) turn and proceed back down the channel in a three-on-three attack against the three other members of the group.
  3. After D and E have been beaten they must either take no further part or enter the attack as support players coming from depth.

COACHING POINTS:

• Player with ball to run at speed to commit defender.
• Keep running if no defender.
• Attackers should run to opposite shoulder of the defender to the direction in which the pass is to be directed.

VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:

  1. Use support runners.
  2. Use more numbers.
