OBJECTIVE:

To improve players' ability to kick accurately and put pressure on the defender.

EQUIPMENT:

Four cones, one ball.

GROUP SIZE:

Three players per group.

AREA:

Half field.

DRILL EXPLANATION:

  1. No 9 passes to No 10 and follows up pass to place pressure on No 10.
  2. No 10 kicks to the defender (No 11) in appropriate box area. No 10 follows up kick to put pressure on No 11.
  3. Players rotate.

COACHING POINTS:

• Turn side on
• Take one step away
• Turn the back
• High follow-through

VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:

  1. Add loose forwards to follow up No 10s kick once onside.
  2. Used as a fitness drill.
  3. Include more defenders who have to retire to support the ball receiver.
