Searching phrases:

To practice passing and picking up the ball.

DRILL SET-UP:

Three players standing in line.

DRILL EXPLANATION:

  1. The first player runs out and places the ball on the ground and then turns and becomes a defender.
  2. The other two players follow, one behind the other as attackers.
  3. The front person of the attackers picks up the ball and draws and passes to the support player who should have moved into space.

COACHING POINTS:

• Players should concentrate on creating space, timing the pass and communication i.e. calling when and where they want the ball e.g. “pop left”.
