DRILL SET-UP:

Kicker Team in pairs facing each other 5–10m apart.

DRILL EXPLANATION:

  1. Players to throw or kick ball high above partner's head.
  2. Catcher to call for ball and take it in the air with both hands above head.

COACHING POINTS:

• Eyes on ball.
• Move into position early.
• Call for ball.
• Reach for the ball with fingers spread.
• Soft hands.
• Turn side on to take the ball.
• Bring ball to body after catch.

VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:

  1. Introduce support players.
  2. Players further apart.
  3. Join up pairs and have chasers to apply pressure.
